Well today I fed minerals to a bouncing pineapple. It seemed to like them as it had a smiley face over its head afterwards. I'm not sure if I achieved anything there besides making a pineapple with a flower growing out of its head momentarily happy, but that's something isn't it.
I found a better abandoned ship with more cargo space and nicked it, though I had to fix most of it, and now I'm happily warping between solar systems when I can find the fuel. Got a bit killed up by space pirates though. Damn those guys.
Not sure what you're playing on but sprint is shift on PC.
I didn't discover it for ages but to traverse long distances on foot, I find sprinting until your sprint meter is nearly dry, then jetpacking covers vast distances quickly and by the time Jetpack is depleted, the sprint is full again.

Handy when cute wee beasties you have named "willneverhurtme" suddenly turn on you!

I'm only about 4 or 5 hours into this but I am really enjoying it so far!
It really does capture the alien world feel.

I appear to have started at the ass end of the universe as it's all rocks and mushrooms but what pretty rocks and mushrooms lol.

It is a very pretty game.
I do find myself turning the hud off and spamming f12 to get that perfect shot.
If you're friends with me on facebook or steam, I am a bit of a screenie spammer.
More facebook to be fair.

I have yet to see a feckin blade of grass!
My hyperdrive is finally fuelled to a decent level though so I think I've got a good 2 or 3 system jumps in the old girl now.

I genuinely can't wait to see what the next world holds.
Sure it's quite a sedate game but that's what I was looking for, that's the game I paid for and that's what I went in expecting.

Oh, and if you come across a planet where all the wildlife is called Dave ( Big dave, wee Dave, Angry Dave ( angry dave is a pirck ) ) etc, guilty!

Sure there are a few issues.
I get the stutter occasionally when I land on a new planet but that's about the worst of it.
I get a good 4o+ FPS on 4k.
I get the odd FPS stagger but it's never fallen below 30 bar the first few seconds of a planet sometimes and once it settles, it's fine.

It can use some spit polish but it is a great game and one I look forward to playing after work like gaming of old when you ran home from school to get back onto JSW2 and see how big space really was!

If you're on a controller, run is a click of the right stick to run, click of a right stick to stop running. It's sort of the wrong way round but I guess they wanted to prioritise scanning more.

Main gripe is having to go into a menu to switch the hud off at the moment. Because the lighting shifts on a moment, I've missed too many good photo opportunities fiddling with the menu.

I also appreciate how the game can look shit and astounding -at exactly the same time-, I know that's the procgen but it does work in moments of staggering beauty into a sea of complete random. When you can look on one side and it's like My First Vue Render and then on the other, you're on the edge of a cliff, your spaceship parked up underneath a planet as the sun sets... fucking eh.
My love, I am the speed of sound.
I left them motherless, fatherless. Their souls dangling inside-out from their mouths.
But it's never enough.

Ahhh. Found my first extreme planet. Even with augments for thermal protection, I can only get out for around five minutes before having to seek a cave. It's absolutely loaded with vortex cubes underground though so it's totally worth it, just trying to land close enough to a cave is a bastard. I've landed on top of two now and each time, it's crap-pants-central trying to jetpack up to the top to safety.

Also, it's full of cute little bouncing dudes who yawn and stretch.

^I found a planet littered with vortex cubes outside earlier, but if I were as much as to touch one a big sentinel would appear out of nowhere and laser my ass to plasma. I managed to grab three, about all I could carry, with only one death, and got out of there quickly.

No tried them yet but there are a couple of mods I'll be installing after work and golf.

Namely the toggle hud on and off mod and the mod that makes actions instant instead of holding a button and waiting for the wee circle to fill up.

Will probably disable the audio queues of the exosuit too.

Just found the craziest looking planet somewhere between too colourful and corrupted texture RAM. Funny creatures roaming around, no nasty weather (apart from the odd freezing storm), no nasty sentinels. I could stay here!
Thought I'd post some screenshots; right, how do I get these off the PS4? OK I can share to Facebook, Twitter or some other unrecognised site (nice useful icons there), no. Copy to USB device? That sounds good. Wait, "This USB storage device is not supported". Damn! Try another one. Not supported. Again. Get through five different USB storage devices of various kinds with no success. Eventually I try plugging in my digital camera, and it accepts it. Thanks Sony!

In the spirit of Bob I've decided to name everything Bernard from now on.
