Well, the new person to play the Doctor has been announced ... and it's a woman - Jodie Whittaker.

Don't know her. Well, I've seen a couple ofthe things she's been in, but I can't remember her.

Have no idea how I feel but it will either be an inspired move or a total train wreck! Only time will tell...

M.O. Its political correctness gone mad. So, my response - fuck that lark for a game of tin soldiers. It had a good 10 seasons. Some bad eps, some really good eps. But now its time to let go.

Little Hav had a bit of a meltdown and is very disappointed (to put it mildly). It has obviously been for-shadowed for a few years now so we shouldn't be too surprised and frankly it is an 'brave' move for the new incumbent which could backfire spectacularly! I can't see tee Beeb allowing DW to nosedive off a cliff if this turns out to be a bad decision.

There does seem to be a bit of a fashion in putting woman front and centre (and I don't mean Wonder Woman) - yes Ghostbusters I'm looking at you, Rey in Star Wars and even the new lead in the new Star Trek series is a woman (and isn't Thor a woman in the comics?) Maybe we should start a new thread for gender swaps? Here's my one:

The names Bond, Jamie Bond!

Oh and of course:

Petra Parker the new Spider-person

And did I mentions:

Scarlett, Virginai, Alana, Johanna and Georgia the Tracey sisters.

Just read this and had a giggle:
How can Dr. Who be a lady?? Ladies cant be Doctors.... now if they want to change the name to "Nurse Who" or "Secretary Who" that would make a little more sense

Hey, I agree. She's pretty hot.
... I'd love to fill out that box of hers. :lol:

I wrote this next bit on WoS a little earlier so I'll just copy/paste it to not have to write the same thing twice;

I'm I happy it's a woman now? ...dunno really. I think I'd prefer it to still be a man, but I'll have a look ... who knows - it could just be good. But having a woman now just seems so damn PC it makes me (almost) puke.

The only really worrying thing, is that despite having written some pretty good standalone stories before he was showrunner (and the utterly brilliant 'Coupling') - Moffat pretty much sucked AS a showrunner ... and how we're getting Chibnall - whose stories has been pretty lacklustre. But who knows - he might be better as a showrunner than a writer.

I hear it's much bigger on the inside than you'd expect.
