Classical music in old school games.

Post by Minion » Sun Jun 03, 2018 10:10 am

Trying to compile a list of classical (or film) music used in old 8-bit games. Can anyone put any games forward ? I've got the Obvious - Manic Miner with Hall of the mountain king etc, as well as a few beeb games and arcade games. But would be interested in anyone else's input.

Heres what I have so far :-

Manic Miner - ZX-Spectrum (various) - Hall of the mountain king - Grieg

Castle Quest - BBC Micro - Sorcerers apprentice - Dukas

Repton - BBC Micro (C64) - Black & White Rag - Winifred Atwell

Repton 2 - BBC Micro - The Chrysanthemum - Scott Joplin

Sabre Wulf - ZX Spectrum (Various) - Prelude in C Major - J. S. Bach

Elite - BBC Micro (Various) - Blue Danube - Straus

HyperSports - Arcade (various) - Chariots of fire - vangelis

Star Wars - Arcade (various) - Main theme (various) - Williams

Spy Hunter - Arcade (various) - Peter Gunn theme - Henry Mancini

Phoenix - Aecade (various) - Fur Elise - Beethoven / Romance De Amor - Unknown

Who dares wins II - BBC / Atari XL - The great escape theme - Elmer Bernstein

Lemmings - Amiga (various) - Pachelbels Canon

Sorcery (and Sorcery Plus) on Amstrad CPC had the "Sorceror's Apprentice" on the title screen.

[EDIT] Greensleeves appears in King's Quest 1.
