C.H.I.P. ("The $9 Computer")

Format specific babbling. From Speccy to anything that's not the Speccy but they're probably not as good but we'll live, I guess.

They've shipped their first units. I've still gotta wait until May because I went for the PocketCHIP, but seems promising...

May is finally here! They seem to be meeting their rewards on time so I expect to be getting my PocketCHIPs this month. Will post pics when it gets here!

Really like the look of the PocketCHIPs!

Same display as the Sony PSP, too, but with touchscreen added.

It does look like a useful little machine, maybe even as a little handheld emulator. I just wonder about how those keys would stand up to a bit of abuse. Looking forward to a report once you've had a play.

Just got a notification email. Shipping at the end of the month, possibly first week of June for some folks, so we'll see.

As a fun bonus they announced that Pocket CHIPS will ship with a free copy of PICO-8, which I had been considering buying... But I guess I don't have to now!

Well in to June now. Their emails say they are shipping them out as quick as they can. I'm still waiting for my shipping confirmation. Will post here again when I get it...

Apparently some users were "accidentally" sent two C.H.I.P.s by "mistake." Rather then asking for them back, users are allegedly asked to share the spares with others and share their experiences... Hmmm, good PR and marketing all rolled into one silly little "mistake" :P

I'm still waiting for my two "on purpose", but good on them!

I expected to get some kind of shipping notification, but never got it. So I logged in to their address confirmation system again and found "no pending shipments" and a shipping history. Left Hong Kong 5 days ago. Tracking number provided is useless for Canada Post, so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping they arrive soon...
