Games I Played 2017 Edition

Format specific babbling. From Speccy to anything that's not the Speccy but they're probably not as good but we'll live, I guess.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Mario Vs Rabbids on the Switch, having just completed Steamworld Dig 2. MvR is absolutely perfect for scratching my X-Com itch. I never liked those Rabbids and now I can blow them to fuck and back!
I came. I saw. I Played.

I finally got around to dusting off XCOM 2: WotC (still trying not to type WotEF when I type that but that's my problem! Would XCOM 2: WotEF be such a bad thing?)

Totally enjoying it. Totally swearing at it too but given that it is a *fact* that the game cheats, you kind of play it, expecting it to. Plus I "save scum" it so it's all good.
A bit disappointed in the Chosen. They were way too easy to beat. Funnily, the mission immediately after I twunted the last one saw the Avatar, who also got twunted in a single turn. When the engineered aliens of Alien Hunter turned up, none of them made their portals. That was partly due to the fact that I didn't know they had nerfed the Aliens so they don't respond to passive actions. That made a *huge* difference. I was still stunning them as if it was still the way it was before. Doing that means they don't stand a chance.

I am now just taking the piss out of Advent. "Oh, that's a nice Avatar Project base you have just built. It would be a shame if someone were to - I don't know - blow it up? With C4 charges?"
Doing the Resistance Ring missions ends up with supercharged soldiers and the ability to love them up with partners just makes them even more powerful. Nothing is more satisfying than dropping six turbo charged, loved up Psy-Troopers on a base and scything your way through it.

I could end their pain... But this is way too much fun.

In conclusion, I thought WotC would have made it harder. It appears to have made it easier*.

* When it doesn't cheat like a bastard!

I bought Hollow Knight for the Switch which I was looking forward to for ages. Stupid bosses of course because, you know, it's a Metroidvania so lets copy the bad design of every other one. Actually they aren't *too* bad, but I'm currently at one that the save point is miles away and frankly I just can't be bothered with the slog.

Another one I was waiting for is Enter the Gungeon, but fuck me it's bad design. The first dungeon has monsters so easy it's actually boring, then you get a stupid hard boss and the 2nd level (called "the real gungeon" or something) the monsters are 10 times harder. It has some accessibility (amount of auto-aim), but it really makes no difference.

On the other hand, Caveblazers (which I loved, but was stupidly hard for someone like me) has added accessibility mode with being able to reduce the health of monsters and bosses and disable individual bosses. Nice one.
