C64

Format specific babbling. From Speccy to anything that's not the Speccy but they're probably not as good but we'll live, I guess.

HAve picked up a C64 and loads of extras recently. Finally got it set up and tried it! Now, I know I'm a Speccy person but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. Sound is good (although like on the Miggy lots of games give you a choice of music or sound effect but not both). Tape loading is slooooooowwwwwwwwwwww.... whereas disk loading is slowwwwwwwww....

Uridium was good and better than anything on Speccy for speedy scrolling but not much else I've tried has been much fun (although Little Hav became addicted to Power Drift). To be fair, although it's a later model C64c - most of the games are from the early days of the C64 rather than later. Will get a cassette to jack lead thingy and try a few more recent games.

The space invaders loading game in Ghostbusters is impressive. Ghostbusters itself is, I fear, better on the Speccy.....

There is an Android app called TapDancer that lets you play tapes though your mobile or tablet into the C64 (and Speccy) so you might want to try that with some "other games" and see if it works for you. :)
Press 1 to visit my website, press 2 to buy my Android games, or please hold if you wish to speak to one of our advisors.

Some of those loading games were great fun. I remember pressing pause on the tape deck just so I could keep playing them instead of the advertised game in some cases.

Yep - got a tape to jack thingy on order so will try some better games when it arrives.

Although Power Drift is miles better on the C64 than the Amiga...

Have upgraded to an SD card reader all-in-one fastloader cart. Games load so much quicker and actually makes the C64 usuable! Have been playing Bubble Bobble and Arkanoid (with VCS paddles - works really well). Worth the money!!!

Found anothe fun game for paddles - Panic Anologue. Simple but fun gameplay that makes the most of the paddles.

Tried Blagger and Blagger 2 as seen in last months Retrogamer but not a patch on the original and the best, Manic Miner!
